Madeleine Village Apartments

The existing property contains four buildings on site that are part of the historic district. The aim of the project was to restore historic aspects of the building exterior to encapsulate the 1950s architectural style. This consisted of the complete repair of the stucco and stucco-brick façade to its original appearance, the addition of entry door awning coverings, and the installation of new entry doors from the mid-century era. Additionally, with some of the structural repairs done to the building, we had to design an intricate metal piece that resembled the patterns used throughout mid-century modern design in order to preserve a portion of the wall.

The restoration also included Hurricane hardening of the building exterior, including the waterproofing of all existing openings, waterproofing of planter beds along the building exterior, reroofing of the buildings with a new TPO roof and new flashing, installation of a new gutter and downspout system, redesign of the site drainage and sidewalks, installation of a new seawall, structural repair of the openings to resist are wind codes, repainting of the exterior/interior, and installation of new cabinetry and equipment in the kitchen.
